Make the Most of Every Opportunity

A passage that has made a deep impression on my mind is from Christ’s Object Lessons page 373, “Every year millions upon millions of human souls are passing into eternity unwarned and unsaved. From hour to hour in our varied life, opportunities to reach and save souls are opened to us. These opportunities are continually coming and going. God desires us to make the most of them.”

God gives to us many opportunities to share our faith. Often, I have wondered if I have made the most of these God given moments, or have I not discerned them, and as a result missed the God orchestrated occasions to share the good news of salvation with others.

As Literature Evangelists we do our best to stay in tune with our God, to be so connected with Him that as He gives to us these witnessing moments, we will be quick to discern them and make the most of them. I love the words in Colporteur Ministry page 80, “To our canvassers, to all whom God has entrusted with talents that they may co-operate with Him, I would say: Pray, oh, pray for a deeper experience.” For only as we better connect with our God, can we be made channels for communicating His blessings to others.

Looking back over the last few weeks I have seen the amazing way that God has opened up many homes for our end-time literature to be placed in. God’s Spirit is moving on many honest hearted people and they are accepting the truths for this time, and not only that, they are then referring me to visit others in their family and circle of friends that are open and ready for God’s messages. The books, The Great Controversy, The Desire of Ages, The Bible Story, Encyclopedia of Foods and Medicinal Plants are going into homes! Praise our God!

A short God moment that I would like to share with you… I had just come out of a home after delivering our Bible Story books to a family. As I was getting into my car to drive off to my next visit, a lovely Asian lady smiled and waved to me from her home across the road. I smiled and waved back, got into my car and as I was about to start the motor, I realized that this was a witnessing opportunity that God had opened for me. With a Great Controversy and a Desire of Ages in my hand I went over and knocked on her door. We had a short chat and then I asked her if we had previously met each other. She replied that we hadn’t met before and that she was not waving to me, but was waving to her friend in the house behind where I was standing. After a bit of a laugh together I then said that I had a couple of gifts for her. I was so pleased when she graciously accepted them and thanked me for the kindness.

Thankyou God for the opportunities that you give to us to reach and save souls. May we always be open to them!
