An Easy Way to Witness
Literature Evangelist Team Leader Victoria & Tasmania Conferences.
I just love when I receive feedback from around our Conferences of how spirit filled Literature Evangelists and church members share their faith using literature.
Church member Violet Lear wrote, “Thank you for supplying me with the ‘Great Controversies’. I gave one to Rebecca, the Naturopath in my health food store. Another went to my cleaning lady who was telling me how she witnessed to one of her client’s son who is having dark thoughts. She helped him a lot and so I offered a ‘Great Controversy’ to her to pass onto him. Last week I went with my husband to see his specialist who had just come back from Israel. He is from the Buddhist faith and was happy to receive a copy. Also a lady by the name of Maeva accepted one for her husband. At the age of 12 he gave his life to Christ at a Billy Graham crusade but has now gone away from God.”
Another church member Maggie Smith…. “My husband Peter needed new shoes. Early in the morning I had thought that we might have some divine appointments so I packed a variety of books. Sure enough we gave out several pieces of literature. But the highlight was sitting next to a lady in one shop. She couldn’t find fitting shoes either. They would be too tight or pressing on a bunion…. She shared that she needed to find well-fitting hikers as they were going to do a lot of walking in Scotland. “Oh, the country of John Knox! What do you know about him?” She actually didn’t. When I asked her whether she enjoyed reading, she responded positively. Asking further on whether she was interested in history, she told me that in the past she wasn’t. But lately she was very curious about world history. I offered her the ‘Great Controversy’ explaining briefly how it held the most important points of European history and how it presents Jesus as a historic reality and that He was coming again. With a smile she told me that she was a Christian and that she would love the book. That is when it was time to leave the shop…without shoes…but a very happy heart and a prayer for the Holy Spirit to lead her into Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Peter had an encounter with a Chinese family to whom he offered a ‘Steps to Christ’ which was eagerly accepted…. and we even found good walking shoes.”
Only eternity will tell the full result of our faithful witnessing, and Literature Ministry is an easy and effective way to witness. In Colporteur Ministry page 4 & 5 the prophet wrote, “Our literature is to be distributed everywhere. The truth is to be sown beside all waters; for we know not which will prosper, this, or that. In our erring judgement we may think it unwise to give literature to the very ones who would accept the truth most readily. We know not what may be the results of giving away a leaflet containing present truth.”
Keep witnessing! Keep sharing literature!
